Day 2 (Monday, June 5)

Getting into New Mexico was cool. I had not been on this side of the state since I drove with Salvador two years ago. I was pleased to see they have a new "Welcome to New Mexico" sign. The old one was cool, but I like this new one better.

I made great time and reached El Paso aka "El Chuco" by the morning. That gave me a chance to stop by the local's favorite "Chico's Tacos." You cannot go to "El Chuco" and not have "Chico's".

During the way into San Angelo there was a brief stop at Foster Park, the place where I spent a lot of hot day offs last summer cooling off in the river water. The swimming was just what the doctor ordered being that we had been driving on a really hot day. I am not sure how hot it was but I can assure you it was above the triple digit mark.

I really miss San Angelo. It's so peaceful here. After the quick swimming session we headed into town to visit the Taylor's. I couldn't wait to see them since they have been going through a lot these past few months. In April I spent part of my Spring Break in Austin visiting George as he was in the hospital after a few health setbacks. But after seeing him today I am happy to report that he is doing very well. At least he looks better. Especially since he lost nearly 50 pounds while being on what he calls the "No Salt, No Grease, No FUN" diet.

We did, however, take a trip over to Chilango's, the cool restaurant where the Taylor's and I used to go once a week during my stay here last summer.

Man, I love San Angelo. I can see myself coming back and owning a house here. It's just so peaceful.
