Day 3 (Tuesday, June 6)

Woke up kinda late this morning but it was just enough time to hang out with the Taylor's before we headed out of town.

But before that I had to make a few stops. First at the San Angelo Standard-Times. I couldn't just drive by the town and not visit my former co-workers. I miss them so much and from the looks of it, they were happy to see me. Like I said yesterday, I miss San Angelo so much. I think it's because the people here are so nice. I can see myself spending more than just a summer here. We'll see.

After the visit to the newspaper I went to Silvia's famous snow cone stand on Junius Street. This is the place where the whole town gets a chance to escape the heat by having some really cool snow cones. Yum!

On my way out, I drove through all the cool towns that stand between Austin and San Angelo. First, it was Brady, which is known as the "Heart of Texas" because it's located right near the center of the whole state. What's funny is that a year ago (almost to the date) I drove through here for the first time and I saw something that I thought was funny. The town seems so old-fashioned that when I saw the following I just laughed:

Wow! Donuts are finally coming to this small town. Hahahahaha. Yeah, I was teasing, of course. But still, it looked funny.

Today I saw the following (which made me very pleased):

BRADY NOW HAS DONUTS!!! YEEEHHHHAAAAA!!!

Hahaha. Just playing - NOT!

Another cool town between Austin and San Angelo is Llano. There is a cool bridge that goes over a river. Since the temperature read 103 degrees on the side of a bank in Brady I figured it would be a good idea to take a dip in the water. It cooled me off and helped me with the rest of the 250 miles or so that it took to get to Houston from there.
