Day 7 (Saturday, June 10)
I must say I had a great night sleep. I went to bed kinda late
since I was unpacking and getting settled into the new room.
This morning I woke up pretty late but it was OK because today's
mission was only to get to know Chicago.

I rolled out of bed and went out for a drive to find some incidentals.
In the meantime I was able to go into downtown and see some
cool architecture. The church above was pretty cool. It stood
out from blocks away.

Being in Chicago only means I had to go check out the Sears
Tower (above). That building is so big that I could see it from
anywhere in the city, including my bedroom window.

As I cruised along the city streets I came across a lot of
cool things. I saw the famous Chicago Theater (above).

People have always told me that Chicago is a great place to
see architecture. I thought it was pretty cool how in the above
photo, the building in the middle was just the perfect size
to be seen through the middle of the other sky scrapers.

After driving through downtown I decided to go down to the
barrio. It was cool because it reminded me a lot of Mexico.
How could it not remind me of Mexico. After all, some of the
business even had the Mexico icon on their buildings.
The drive was cool but I was so tired of being inside the truck
because of the week-long trip. So I decided to go home and relax
for the rest of the day.
I watched some television and worked out a minor glitch with
the internet at home.
Before going to bed I had to pack my bags. No, I am not tired
of Chicago yet. But tomorrow morning I will be flying to Ft.
Lauderdale, Florida to take part of the week-long internship
with the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
I must say that for having graduated just a week ago I am a
lucky person for having my career take off so fast. I mean how
many people can say that within a week from graduating they
have gone from Los Angeles to Houston; to Chicago; to Florida?
Oh yeah!!! I'm lucky.
So, with that in mind I will take a break from the Chicago
Journal and will be working on the 2006
NAHJ Journal. Please check it out. We'll see you in a week!
