Day 16 (Tuesday, June 27)
I was told by a few people over the course of the last few
months that the AP covers a lot of press conferences. "I
don't mind," I would tell them. Today I must say that I
still do not mind. I am sure the AP covers a lot of press conferences
since two of my three assignments have been press conferences.
That's OK. I am glad to be here and to learn the process.
My assignment of the day was to go to a press conference where
a political campaign was going to be discussing a new advertising
strategy.

Once the press conference was done I took the scenic ride back
to the office. I didn't want to go back in a cab, the way I
got here. So, I hopped on the Water Taxi and took it back to
the office. First, however, I came across some pretty interesting
things.

A young woman named Rachel Baker of San Jose, Calif., went
around taking photos with some of the downtown icons during
her vacation trip to visit family in Chicago. She decided to
hand out a kiss to the chrome statue in front of the Wrigley
Building.

The Wrigley Building, above, is pretty cool looking and I had
to get a shot of that.

A woman spent her lunch break on a phone call just outside
of the NBC studios.

After taking a look around I found the Water Taxi (above, on
bottom-right corner) and took it back to the office.
The rest of the day included doing some editing and learning
more about the city of Chicago. I found out that the city offers
free WiFi connections at different places in the city. So, if
you're coming up to visit Chicago, you got a few cool options
to check your email and stuff.
I went home and cooked. Wow, this was the second time in three
days that I've cooked. I guess I must be getting into my old
habits again. It's about time.
