Day 17 (Wednesday, June 28)
As I write today's journal a storm is rolling through Chicago.
It's raining hard and the lightning bolts are coming down so
close the noise makes the whole house shake. There's something
scary, yet beautiful about storms. The intensity, the power,
the strength these natural wonders have is just amazing. I got
a low-light setting here in the house and I am listening to
Jazz as I write this. Not a bad way to relax, eh?

Today was pretty cool. I walked a lot. I didn't have an official
event assignment, but I was instructed to walk the city and
look around for cool photos. The above photo is pretty cool.
The sun is coming straight down on te man as he walks by the
large crucifix. I love using light and shadows to my advantage.
I wanted to shoot a lot more images at this location. But a
few minutes seconds after I took this photo a big truck parked
right in front of the church and it obstructed my view for quite
sometime. Well, it's good to know the sunlight comes down that
way in that area. Perhaps I could use it to my advantage later
on this summer.

I proceeded to walk all over downtown and wound up at Millennium
Park. I saw a bunch of kids playing in the water fountain. I
had to get a photo of the kids enjoying the water on a warm
day in Chicago.

I walked all over the city today. Got a chance to see some
of the places I had been planning on seeing, including the water
fountains (above) and the "Bean" (below).

There bean reflects the city pretty nicely and I see a lot
of nice photo possibilities. I could sure a nice photo of the
bean in some dramatic weather situation. Perhaps one of my trademark
lightning shots. We're gonna have to wait and see what develops.

The "Bean" is a big hit among tourists.

I even got a chance to make a photo of myself under the "Bean."
