Day 28 (Sunday, July 9)

Today was the last day of the Taste of Chicago. I had a lot of food tickets left over from my previous two visits. I couldn't let them go to waste. So, I decided I headed over to the Taste.

Before doing so, however, I hung out w/ Diego as we watched the Italy vs. France World Cup Championship Game. Wow! What a game. Italy won!

Minutes after watching the game, I headed upstairs and got ready to go take a walk in downtown. I was going alone, just like last week. But it was cool. I am slowly learning to be a loner once again.

So, I drove to the office, parked the car and walked the mile-or-so distance to the lakefront spot where the Taste was being held. As I walked on Madison Avenue, I came across St. Peter's Church. Y'all might remember that church from Day 17, when I took the photo of the large crucifix on the front of the church. As I walked by the church, I peeked in to see if anything was going on.

Sunday mass had just got started so it was only right for me to come in and join in the service. It has been a few months since I have been to church. That's really odd for me, being that I used to spend a lot of Sundays at church. Well, maybe today's the beginning of my church-going days. We'll see.

Going to church made me feel at peace. I came out w/ a lighter head. It was the best thing that could happen to me.

During the service, I thanked all the religious icons for their help and guidance. I thanked them for giving health to my family and friends. To watch over those that have passed away.

Somehow I started being a little creative w/ the camera. The above photo is of a fountain that shows the images of a few people in large scale. The eye was kind of creepy and it blended in well w/ the buildings across the street.

The kids were out enjoying the fountain's water during a hot summer day in Chicago.

Turkey Legs! YUM!!! The man above was having a ball enjoying his turkey leg. I had one, myself, and it was amazing. I am still full.

A few hours later on my way out, I passed by the water fountain one more time. Just to see if the change of daylight created interesting photos. The kids were still having a blast. I really love the photo above. The kids were just having lots of fun.

The evening created some pretty cool shadows and I had to get some nice images out of that.

I was pretty happy w/ the photos that I shot.
