Day 36 (Monday, July 17)

Things are heating up in Lebanon and there is all kinds of
pro and anti feelings about what's going on in that part of
the world. Personally, I shouldn't even say if I am either pro
or con being that I should not have a bias. But y'all probably
know what side of the fence I am standing on. Either way, I
had to stay on the fence today when I covered the pro and anti
Israeli rallies in downtown.
The above photos is pretty cool because it shows just how deep
people feel about their sides. Obviously, there is some tension
between the two sides. This photo shows exactly that. And the
sign helps deliver the message of the anti Israeli person.

I really tried hard to show both sides of the story. It was
pretty simple doing that being that there rallies were held
on opposite end of the street.

Today was extremely hot. At one point I heard the heat index
was at 102-degrees. Chicago has a long history of people dying
during heat waves. As a mater of fact, I read this morning that
in 1995 there were more than 700 people who passed away because
of heat-related symptoms. Wow!

I headed into Millennium Park and shot photos of people trying
to get away from the heat. The photo of the mother and daughter
shows exactly how annoying the sun was. The photo of the sunbather
shows how relaxing heat could be.

But the photo of the kid really tells it all. Heat is a hard
thing to run away from. Especially outdoors.

It was a pretty hot day, but I was not complaining. This weather
reminds me of the Southwest, particularly West Texas. So, I
was feeling at home.
