Day 44 (Tuesday, July 25)

Apparently this big box thing is going to be a big deal. Today
some people from the ACORN labor union team showed up to show
their support for the ordinance at City Hall. I was on my way
to a different assignment but then things changed and I was
sent to City Hall. I wasn't alerted of the stuff going down
at City Hall until it was pretty late. So I go there once things
were pretty much over. I saw the last small group of people
that showed up and I tried to shoot some photos of that, just
so I can cover my ground.

Luckily, I was able to find a few people there and I was able
to make some images.

Not long after that I headed out to ESPN Zone. That's where
IndyCar racer Danica Patrick was giving a news conference. The
local Chicagoan was in town to promote the upcoming Sept. 10
IndyCar Series race at Chicagoland Speedway.

I was able to get some nice close-ups of Danica but the real
photo came long after the news conference. I knew she was going
to step outside and hand out some tickets to youngsters. So,
I waited for more than an hour as she handled other business.
Then she came out to greet the fans for about three minutes.
That's when I made the following photo.

It was good to wait. Because I was able to get a different
type of photo. The kind of photo I know not all the other news
photographers in this town were able to make.

I shot the above photo at McDonald's the other day. It was
in preparation for the company's earns report that was set to
come out this week. I found this cool place in downtown where
there are two entrances to the restaurant. I hung out there
for a while to make sure I got the photo I needed. It worked.
And it worked so well that the Chicago Tribune used it in today's
Business page. Wooohooo!
