Day 57 (Monday, August 7)

This is going to be a fun week. I have a lot of cool assignments set for this week.

It's almost feels like the week will go by so quick just because I will be doing so much cool stuff.

But along w/ the glory of a fun and exciting week, there's gotta be some hard work and adversity to overcome.

This morning was pretty hectic. I got to the office and photo editor Bob Graves looked at me w/ a confused look. He was wondering what I was doing in the office being that I was scheduled for an assignment at Northwestern University.

Oh oh. Somehow, the information about my assignment did not come through to me. Not even after I walked into the office yesterday, on my day off, to make sure I was ready for the week.

So, I had to hop on a cab and go home real quick to pick up my truck. Then, I headed to NU for the football practice.

Going to NU, as always, was a fun experience. Every time I go, I think about all the times I used to hear about how great the journalism department is at this school. I always wanted to go there, go to Texas, go to USC, even Berkley. But, I was never really aware of the opportunities. I guess that's what happens for being the first in the family to go to college. Oh well, my kids will go to the university of their choice, that's for sure.

The rest of the day was good, real good. I mean extremely good.

I came home and took a nap. I guess going away to New York and having loss a lot of sleep finally got me. I slept for a while. Then, I got ready because Diego and I were going to go to Kate's loft just down the street in Pilsen. She had a cool rooftop bbq w/ the most amazing view of the Chicago skyline.

Now, you're probably wondering where the photos are.

Sorry!

I ran out the house because I was making Diego wait while I got ready. As a result, I ran out w/o my camera. I didn't even think about it. I just wanted to get out of the house soon because we were already about two hours late to the bbq.

Needless to say, I wish I had my camera. But oh well, I am sure I'll get to go back and make some nice downtown images. I promise y'all I will.

I met some really cool people at the bbq. All of them were architects. Well, not all. Amber, who was visiting in from Pittsburgh, is not an architect. She and I had a good conversation while we looked at the amazing skyline view.

Like I said, I owe y'all a nice downtown skyline photo from Kate's rooftop.
