Day 70 (Sunday, August 20)
Sunday. Free day! Sunday. Relax day.
I had a late night yesterday. Today I got a little rest but
I headed to the church to hang out and see what kind of things
were going on there.
I was there for a few hours, then I headed to Jorge's to hang
out.
We relaxed and had a cookout. I finally got a chance to make
my arrachera recipe and the crew seemed to like it. It felt
good being there now as a member of this great social group.
I feel part of the family now. At first, when I got here, I
remember going w/ Diego to Jorge's house to watch the Mexico/Argentina
soccer game. It was fun, sure. But I was new to the scene. I
didn't know what to expect, say or think.
Now, we sat on the porch as I took care of the grill. Diego
brought out his architecture literature so he could continue
studying. Jorge relaxed after spinning some vinyl. Javier pulled
away from the film 1986 to join us for dinner. Anna sat on a
lawn chair relaxing after her long day.
Anna and I have been hanging out a lot lately. I am enjoying
every minute we spent together. She's a great person and she
keeps on telling herself not to be "such a nice person."
Hearing her say that makes me smile, she reminds me of my best
friend Jessica, who is truly the nicest person ever. Jessica
is so nice that even people who want to hate her, can't. That's
because she's too nice. And those that do hate her are clueless
about how much of a great friend she is. Respectful, loving,
caring and w/ a lot of dignity. That's they type of best friend
we all dream of having.
Six weeks ago when I first saw Anna I thought we would just
talk from time to time. But within the last week, ever since
we went out for Movies in the Park and had ice cream a few nights,
I have been realizing how cool of a person she is.
Everyone around is cool. Diego, Javier, Jorge and all those
who were not present during our Sunday afternoon cookout. They
are all great people. I love my Chicago family.
