Day 4 (Sun., Sept. 4)

I needed some heavy grooming as you can tell onmost of my latest self portraits. So, once I was settled into my new place this morning I decided it was time for my face and head to meet Mr. Razor. So, I went through some transformation. Now I feel ready for work.

I thought my Cookie Monster shirt needed some attention, so I shot the photo above. Those are CM's eyes. Haha. Funny angle, huh?

As soon as I was presentable w/ my new "look", I decided to go out back and shoot the backyard. Yes, that's the backyard through the fenced porch of the condominium. Oh my god. I love this place.

And of course, I want to remember the first time I saw this beautiful backyard view.

I headed out toward downtown so that I can explore the city a little. A lizard protected the house as it laid on the front-door porch. I wonder if I can find a "beware of reptile" sign at Home Depot to put on the front door. Ha!

After driving around town for a little while, I ended going to church at St. Anthony's in downtown. This church is just a mile away from the office at the Sun-Sentinel (pictured below), so I can't have an excuse for missing Sunday Mass. Today was my fifth consecutive week that I have been to mass since I went together to church in San Angelo a month ago.

After driving around and getting used to the city, I headed down to North Miami Beach. That's where my boss Debbie Ramirez lives. She held a Labor Day weekend get-together and I was invited.

It was cool going there as I was able to meet a few of my new co-workers. Debbie cooked up some really good Puerto Rican-type seafood and fixed some really good guacamole in my "honor", as she said. Being there was cool. A bunch of successful Latinos in one place. It felt as the Latino United Nations. There was people from Cuba, Colombia, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico and Mexico at the party. Everyone had so many cool stories to tell. It was cool to share stories of my Mexican background as I learned more about theirs. Being there was cool and it made me very excited about my new job.

Tonight I feel excited and anxious to get to work. I have Labor Day tomorrow so I get an extra day to relax and get mentally prepared for what's up ahead. I can't wait to get to work.
