Day 13 (Tue., Sept. 13)

Today I hung out at the Sun-Sentinel main office. I was in training
all day, however. I wish I could have gone out to an assignment
instead. That's because I didn't quite learn anything new. All
the stuff they talked about were things that I had already known.
But I guess this is good so that we can get a refreshment in
our memories.
After work I headed out to the Department of Motor Vehicles.
I decided that it's time for me to get a Florida ID card. Not
just because I am going to be here for a while, but because
my California card is old and bent. It has been through a series
of wash cycles as I have forgotten the card in my pants a time
or two. Also, it serves for a great key to the door of my room
in my parent's home. Ha! You can do many things w/ an ID card,
that's for sure. But you didn't hear that from me. Being at
the DMV sucked. I have not had a reason to be in one of those
offices in a long time. Thank God! But today I was reminded
how boring it could be. Being in line all that time. It almost
feels like a waste of time. At least I had my "Gabo"
book to read.
Other than that, I just hung out today. I did a three-mile
jog in the dark and came home and worked out a little bit. I
have been trying to get back into my running. But busy schedules
and long days have prevented me from doing so. Today I gave
myself a goal: I am going to run a lot this month. It has been
my experience that when I am active in my running and keep up
a steady training regime, I do well at work. Sometimes running
around from assignment to assignment becomes very draining.
Especially on deadline time. Being in shape helps out a lot
in staying focused. I just need to get back more deeply in to
my running. I do have six months before the next L.A. Marathon,
which will be my seventh.
Since I start doing assignments tomorrow, I decided I needed
some practice and some mental preparation. So, I took out all
the toys the company provided for me and started playing w/
them. I haven't really worked much w/ a two light sources. I
have a feeling I will be doing that a lot this fall. So, I took
out the strobes and worked on my lighting techniques. Cookie
Monster (above) served for a great model. I fell good thanks
to my practice tonight.
