Day 16 (Fri., Sept. 16)

I must admit that I am loving what I learned last week about lighting and the importance of a second light source. Today, I kept w/ it. Why not? It's worked for the first two days on the job.

The first assignment had me driving north for just over an hour to West Palm Beach. There, I documented a store w/ a particular approach. They have hundreds of items that are all worth 25 cents. That's right! A quarter. I have to admit that most of the stuff that they sell is junk, but they also have some real useful things. Kitchenware, notebooks, pens, cosmetics, even sun glasses. All for 25 cents. I met the co-owner there today. So, I shot the above photo. It shows him and some of the stuff that's available for 25 cents. I wanted to be creative.

I was beat because today was Friday. I had a pretty rough week. First w/ all the classroom-type training sessions followed by long days of work. I can't complain. I was just a little tired. But that didn't mean I would turn down an assignment. This weekend I will be volunteering my days off to do some photography. Also, as I was fixing to leave the office, I was handed a quick assignment. "Shoot the Ft. Lauderdale skyline" and "show the haze that covers it" said the assignment. I drove around and, thanks to my editors tips, I found a cool angle to shoot the skyline. It was hard to show haze through a photo. But that's what I came back w/.
