Day 18 (Sun., Sept. 18)

Cowboy Up!

For a second, today, I thought I was back in Texas. Ha! The Professional Bull Riders tour came through Ft. Lauderdale and I was there to shoot it. It was a lot of fun. It gave me a reason to wear my cowboy hat once again.

I volunteered to cover this event since I had the day off today. I get to do some pretty cool things at work. Most of the events I get to cover are things that I would like to attend as a fan. So, the fact that I get to go to these events w/ a purpose is a lot nicer.

Although I have issues against animal abuse, I think bull riding is OK. I saw a bunch of guys hit the ground hard. Perfectly fitting for what they are doing. I just love to see these people get ran over by a bull. It's only fair.

But some of them wear helmets, like the guy above. Booooooo!!! So much for the tough cowboy look.

Or how about the guy in the above photo who ran for cover after holding on for just two seconds on the bull. Why is he running so scared?

Boooooooooooooooooo!!!!

Besides bull riding, the day was relaxing. I went to Sunday Mass at St. Anthony and then relaxed for the rest of the evening. Spent some time watching the news of the approaching tropical storm Rita. It could hit South Florida and everyone is keeping a close eye on it. We'll see what happens.
