Day 37 (Fri., Oct. 7)

This was a great way to finish the work week. I went to the Daddy Yankee concert tonight. It was really cool because the show was full of all kinds of great pyrotechnics. The above photo is perfect because the lyrics on the song say "en fuego" ("on fire").

Today was a slow day. I did not have any other assignments besides the show tonight. I hung out a the office for five hours and it seemed endless. I really like to be out on the field. Being indoors helped me gather my thoughts and plan for assignments that are coming up next week, so it wasn't a loss of day. It's pretty funny how the final seven hours of my shift went by so quick once I got on the road. In driving down to the concert I picked up entertainment editor/writer Eliseo Cardona. This is a great person and he seems to know all the important people in the music world in Miami -- after all, he was the Miami Herald's music critic for a few years.

Picking up Eliseo was cool because it gave me a chance to go to Miami Beach. So far, I have been to downtown Miami and the areas around it, but I had not been over to the so-called "sexy city" that is Miami Beach. Now I am hooked. I wanna go back. It seems like the place to be. Especially since I was there at sun set. The sky was gold and pink while the water reflected all kinds of cool shades in between. It was nice. I must go back.

I was able to get a seat at the concert so I stayed and enjoyed the show after my job was done. It was cool, but it felt a little weird. I got a seat next to all the teenagers. Ha! It was cool, though. I met a few of them and it was refreshing to see what it's like to be a teenager this days. Man, I feel old. Last night while covering the Puerto Rico celebration I was hit on by a girl who thought I was 18. Wow! What a compliment. It was nice to hear it, but then again I realize I am getting old. Well not too old to enjoy a concert w/ a bunch of teenagers. So, there I stood in front of my seat singing and moving to the cool songs, especially at the end with the song that made Daddy Yankee famous: "Gasolina".
