Day 41 (Tue., Oct. 11)

Yesterday I mentioned how cool it is to have this job because
of all the chances to do really cool things. But I must admit
that doing all those cool activities isn't as cool as meeting
all kinds of great people. Today I took photos of Carolina Avalos,
the first Colombian-born judge to be appointed into office in
the United States. I shot history today and that's why I chose
this career because I want to document history. Avalos was appointed
by Florida Governor Jeb Bush into office and she was honored
today at the Broward County Commissioners meeting.
Since I was at a local government meeting there was a lot of
down time as it's always the case on these types of events.
So, I couldn't stay idle. I had to keep working. I was able
to tell that there was going to be a big important hearing today
at the meeting beacause there were a lot of workers from the
Water Taxi, a company that moves passangers all over Ft. Lauderdale
and Miami via water. It was good I kept active, when I got back
to the office they asked me if I saw anything in regards to
that hearing. I told them I had photos and they were glad because
it was quickly becoming a huge story we were chasing. So having
the photos worked out well. It's always good to keep working
and not staying idle. That's something I learned from LaKeith
Kennedy in San Angelo this summer. Especially when we did our
football tour. One of the things he instructed the photo staff
was to "never stand idle". Today it worked. Thanks
boss!

On my way back to the office I saw the button on the elevator
wall. I thought it was too funny. And a lady next to me thought
I was crazy for taking the photo. Then I told her "I never
seen an elevator that goes diagonal!" She laughed. Then
I realize I was lying. "Actually, I have seen one before...
In Vegas! At the Luxor Hotel." Haha. I thought it was pretty
funny the way it looked though. So, I had to shoot the photo.
After all, I can't afford to stay idle, right? Not even if I
am waiting for the elevator.
Talking about Vegas made me miss it. Vegas sounds real good
right about now.
What sounds as good as Vegas is bitting into some "Turron",
a treat from Peru. I was asked to shoot this treat in our studio
today. Man, it looked so good. And full of sugar, just how I
like things. I shot the product and then had a piece of it.
Wow! It's good. If you get a chance to try it, do so. It's goooooooooodddddd!!!
So I guess this job is very rewarding. You get to do cool things
like ride on high-speed boats. You get to meet important people
as they make history. And you get to eat food from all over
the world. I'm loving it.
