Day 49 (Sun., Oct. 30)

I'M PLUGGED!!!

I'M PLUGGED!!!!

FINALLY!!!!

Wow, what a weird couple of weeks. It's now 4:30 p.m. and I am finally having an internet connection on my laptop for the first time in a week. Wow! This post-hurricane Wilma drama is getting pretty annoying. But right now I am finally up on the internet and I am ready to show you what I have been up to for the past two weeks. I apologize for the delay in the journals and for not sharing all the cool things that have happened to me lately, but I was hoping to have everything published Monday night when I got back to Florida. Then hurricane Wilma came through and it messed things up. So, since the day's not over, I will give you a 1/2 story of what I've been doing today.

Started the day by searching for more post-Wilma woes. I saw a work crew picking up debris, including large trees that were knocked down w/ the storm.

Later, I drove down the street and saw another crew working on replacing street lights. The guys were cool and didn't mind me getting up close. There's something about electricians that makes them be cool and nice all the time.

I am glad street signals are finally coming back up. Six days after Wilma, people still do not know the concept of a four-way stop.

I headed down Pines Boulevard and found a water and ice distribution site where Pembroke Pines Mayor Frank Ortis helped w/ the cause. There he is in the above photo dancing to the hip-hop beats coming off a Power 96 FM bus. Now, that's what I am talking about!

"Wilma who?"

Ortis' wfie, Barbara, (seen on the above photo on the right) tried to keep things cool as people showed frustration. Turns out a private condo complex will not allow the Salvation Army to come in and give the elderly eat their warm meals. That's absurd.

More power line work down the street.

And just a little further down you can see how a football field's scoreboard couldn't hold up against the powerful wind force.

That's it for now. I am lucky to be connected to the internet once again. Now go back and catch up on all the stuff you've missed. Again, I am sorry.
