Day 53 (Thrs., Nov. 3)

The long drive to Immokalee took a lot out of me. But it re-charged
my batteries. I am so ready to try to have my photos make a
difference. Yet, there are still a lot of "regular"
stories that need to be told. So, that's what I worked on today,
the daily life of Florida.
I started the day by following a trash collecting crew as they
worked hard. They are so busy these days since the hurricane
came through. Trash pick up was delayed, so they are working
double time.

Another of the things Wilma messed up was the roof to the theater
at South Plantation High School. The crew, a 20-student group,
that is putting together a play has been practicing at the homes
of different students because they are determined to go on w/
the show. So, they crammed into a small house just down the
street from my house and practice their lines.
The set-up at the house was different. The living room, dining
room and kitchen were divided by half walls. It was a distraction
for the actors as the other students talked loud in the living
room and it could be heard in the kitchen. So, I had to show
how that was a main distraction. And what better way than to
split the screen like I did in the photo above. I thought it
was very symbolic.
