Day 11 (Fri., June 10)

Today I headed out to Fort Worth for my internship with the
National Association of Hispanic Journalists. The internship
doesn't start until Sunday, but I wanted to get a head start
since I have today and tomorrow off. So, today I took a slight
detour, actually a huge detour. I drove to the state capital,
Austin, to have some fun. I have been to this city about three
times before and they've always been fun. Especially the first
time, on Halloween last year. On the drive today, I came across
Brady, you might remember me talking about it on the June 4
journal entry. This town is small and I thought it was funny
when I took a picture of a building that had a sign that read
"Coming Soon! DONUTS"... Wow! it's good that such
a small town will finally get some donuts. haha.

Once at the capital it was all fun. The best thing about going
to a big city was the fact that I saw high-rise buildings. Woohoo.
I had not seen those in about two weeks, so I really needed
to see some. The other good thing is that I had a large selection
of radio stations to choose from. In San Angelo, there's only
one Spanish language radio station and they play every genre
in the Spanish music world. It's very confusing going from regional
to dance music to romantic tunes. Here, I was able to pick from
at least half dozen radio stations. Also had a chance to hear
some "real" hip hop and R&B. I heard Baby Bash
and some 50c, which was good because I had not heard their music
in more than a week.

Walking around 6th Street in downtown Austin was fun. Here,
there are many many many bars that line up the street on both
sides. At some point they close down the street to traffic so
that pedestrians can bar hop from one side of the street to
the other without worrying about being ran over.

It's pretty scenic as everyone makes it out here. All the beautiful
people of Texas go here. Especially the womyn. My Gosh! So many
hot womyn walking around here. I love this town. Not just cuz
of the womyn, but because of the lay back party atmosphere (if
that makes any sense). Here you can party til you drop and you
don't have to drive too far to get to all the good spots. Not
like in L.A.

As mentioned, I had been to Austin a few times. The first time
was on a rainy Halloween, while wearing my Chapulin Colorado
costume (seen below). I enjoyed the weekend. I even got my tongue
pierced that day. That's how much fun I had in Austin. That's
how much it made me think by coming here today.

Finally, while hanging out at Friends bar I walked into the
restroom and saw a sticker on a urinal. It was cool. It reminded
me of X-Tina, my bestest friend in the whole wide world. She's
a DORK! Here' goes to you Tina. I miss ya. Love ya!
