Day 15 (Weds., June 22)

Fire! Fire! For the second day in a row I got a page with a fire call. Today was my day off, but the call couldn't come at a better time. I was very bored in my apartment and couldn't get the energy to go out and explore. Today was the first time in two weeks that I had a chance to relax and not do anything. When my batteries were once all charged up I got bored. So, when the fire call came, I got excited and headed out to see what was all the noise about. Turned out to be a pretty visual thing as a grass fire got out of hand and got into the backyards of some homes. No homes were damaged and no one was injured.

Being there kept me busy so that was good. It added something to my day. Otherwise, right now I would be writing about how much I slept today. I had fun doing the fire chasing. First, because the location was right outside of San Angelo, so the San Angelo map did not have the street on it. I had to use my adventurous instinct and luckily I found the place. It also helped that after driving for 15 minutes I saw a cloud of smoke. Once there, I was jumping through fences in trying to get the right angle.

There was a lot of stuff that was burnt in the backyards of these homes, but no one got injured. The only sign of injury was when a kid picked up a neighbors cat and u can see the burnt whiskers on the kitty's face. The kitty made a bunch of new friends quickly. In fact, the tv news cameraman decided to give the kitty the name "lucky'. Quite fitting, I thought. The kid said it was the neighbor's kitty, so it wasn't homeless. I really liked the furry thing and wished I knew who the owner was so that I can get a picture of them together. Also, to see if the kitty really had an owner. I wanted to take it home w/ me.
