Day 19 (Sun., June 26)
Today was absolutely awesome.
On Tuesday when I went out on that
fire call, I drove about 25 miles away from San Angelo. During
the short trip, I saw what looked to be a great place for a
day trip. There was a river that seemed peaceful enough with
a nice bank where a picnic would be enjoyed. So, I packed some
food onto the cooler, loaded up my pick-up and drove there.
Once there, the scenery looked a lot better than it did as I
saw it from the bridge a few days ago. I cooked some cool food
with a special Tapatio spice.
After lunch I headed to the water to have some fun. It was
cool hanging out there. I kept on telling myself how cool I
am to have found a nice place for a fun time and not having
the internet to rely on. I can see myself going back to this
place from time to time in the future. I fell in love with this
place. During fun time on the water, I decided to try out the
swinging ropes on one of the trees near the river. I swung and
dove onto the river. That was fun.

I impressed myself. Most of you who know me from ages 16-22
know that I was never much of a risk-taker. I would be the last
one to try something fun like that. And sometimes I was the
only one not to try such thing. Today, reminds me of the type
of person that I have become in the last three or four years.
I like to take a risk and never have a regret. So, I decided
to take a swing on rope and dive onto the river. It was kind
of cool as I did not know how deep the water level really was.
I threw myself nonetheless and had a great time. After that,
All I could do was try to make my next jump different than the
previous.
It's funny how I didn't care/think about how I might get hurt
by doing something so daring. It's kind of a gamble doing something
and not knowing what the outcome might be. All I cared was about
having a good time and enjoying life. It's funny, though, because
tonight I am physically hurt. No, not because I landed hard
on the water and hit the ground hard on my first try, when I
didn't swing far enough away from the edge of the river. I got
hurt while taking a shower. I slipped and fell in the bath tub.
It was pretty scary as I hit my head hard on the toilet seat
during the fall. I had a huge headache for a while and I wasn't
so sure if I had a minor concussion. All I remember is that
I had a huge headache.
It must have not been that hard as I was able to enjoy the
circus show tonight, the one that I had to cover on Thursday.
The show was really cool. Although it seemed kind of short.
This was the hometown edition of the circus, so it only had
one ring. I was expecting the Ringling Bros. and Barnum &
Bailey circus with its three-ring features that I got used to
seeing in Los Angeles. Despite the show being short and quick.
They still had a good performance. It was fun times. Once I
left the place, I was still having a headache. So, I am glad
the circus kept my mind off the pain.
