Texas Journal -- Part II:
Standard-Times Internship

Day 20 (Mon., June 27)

Man! The headache went away. But tonight when I had my assignment I had trouble focusing -- and I don't mean the camera. I am not sure if it's because I went swimming this afternoon in the pool and the water messed my eyes. But, I had trouble focusing on things relatively far away. I am beginning to worry about that head bang I had yesterday. I hope I didn't mess myself up. Oh well, I had to work tonight and it was fun.

I followed around Ray Zapata, the owner of Mejor Que Nada, a really cool restaurant. The guy kept me on my toes as he ran around the building making sure everyone's cup was full and that everything was well taken care of. I had a good time shooting this assignment as the guy was really cool to work with. He asked me questions, lots of questions, which is odd given the fact that I am usually the one asking all the questions. He asked about my background and we visited my past when I was managing Sharky's Mexican Grill in Northridge about five years ago. The guy was cool and kept on saying who I was to those who looked at me with a weird look because I was following Ray around the restaurant snapping pictures. "He's from Los Angeles!... He's here on an internship," he kept on saying over and over to everyone we would cross. It was kind of cool being introduced to a lot of his costumers, which are usuals at this dinner-only establishment. I had a good time, but my eyes were killing me. I am scared.
