Texas Journal -- Part II:
Standard-Times Internship

Day 27 (Mon., July 4)

I made up from last night's fireworks today. I think.

I drove out to Fort Worth to hang out with a bunch of friends. A group of three families that opened their doors and hearts to me when I lived out in the Metroplex last year. We headed out to Joe Pool Lake to hang out. It was great. I spent so much time out on the water, that by the time I came out, I had pale, wrinkled skin. It was fun, though. We played in the water, engaged in a water-balloon fight, even soaked each other w/ cold ice water. I can't think of a better way to enjoy a day off on what happens to be an important holiday.

Being at the lake brought back a lot of memories. Last year, I spent a lot of time here at this lake by myself. It was also my day off that time. However, I decided to ditch all my internship colleagues and headed out to the lake to do some work. Last year, I shot fireworks on four different nights and shooting the 4th of July fireworks was something I had planned out for a whole month. However, in doing so I became really sad as you can read about it on the Dallas Journal under the Day 36 entry. I hung out at the lake watching many famlies have fun and enjoy a day at the lake, while I just sat there and cried as I missed my family and friends.

Well, today was totally the opposite. I hung out with friends. The running around, the jumping in the water, the laughing and the fun made this day great. I now have a great 4th of July experience here in Texas and I owe it all to them. Thank you all. It means a lot to me.
