Texas Journal -- Part II:
Standard-Times Internship

Day 32 (Sat., July 9)

The highlight of today is that I got a chance to see the Dodgers play in a stadium that was not Dodger Stadium. Wooohoo. I'm expanding my horizons.

A new ballpark under the belt. New experiences. New smiles. New life. But the greatest thing is that I am alive!

I rode on the passanger seat of a friend's car as we talked while driving eastbound on the 10. Suddenly, a loud noise was heard. We quickly looked around to see what and where it came from. That's when I saw it. The bright headlights on a white S.U.V. (an expedition, I am almost certain) quickly approached as I looked to my right. W/o a second to say, do and/or react, the headlights struck my door tossing the car out of its course. Spinning once (maybe twice) everything became dark and uncertain.

During the course of the spinning, I saw the headlights of those other cars traveling 65-mile-per-hour coming toward us and successfully dodging us. There was nothing we can do but wait til the car found a way to stop. Glass everywhere, including covering the whole right side of my head and into my ear. Not knowing where we ended up, turns out the car spun from the fast lane all the way to the second lane on the right across three lanes, I looked around hoping that I can still move. I sharp pain was felt on my shoulder, the place where the door panel came to contact w/ as it was sandwhiched between the S.U.V and I.

Gone was the bastard, low-life person who could not live up to the responsibility of destroying the right side of the car. Before we knew it, anyone involved (including those who witnessed the crash) were gone. No one was there to tell us how this S.U.V. ended going perpendicular to the high-speed lane. No one!

What is wrong w/ this world? Where are those who can give up five minutes off their lives in order to make sure on the conditions of those caught in a high-speed collision. I thought this was Texas, where the friendliness and good-character people will stop at nothing to show they care. They weren't around. What a shame.

I survived what could have turned out to be an awful situation. This is my second biggest wreck and only adds to the reoccurring pain on the left-side of my head that I keep on feeling since falling in the shower a couple of weeks ago.
