Texas Journal -- Part II:
Standard-Times Internship

Day 41 (Mon., July 18)

Heading back to work after sitting on the couch all day long was cool. I was energized. The first assignment involved going next door at the office to the Presbyterian church for a summer arts camp that they are hosting. I shot the above photo during a session of yoga class for kids. It was fun. I really enjoyed going to that. Kids learn so quick and they learn in a special way. They can be in their own little world, the way the girl is on the above photo, but they are learning.

The above photo is of my photo boss LaKeith Kennedy. He is pretty cool. I have learned so much from him. Lately, I have been feeling more at home around the office. I think I grew into the staff already. I am sure going to miss these great people I work with.

During my lunch break I did something I have been wanting to do. I went to the local drug store where I saw an anniversary card a few weeks back. When I saw it I thought it was a very cool card, but I had no idea who would be enjoying an anniversary any time soon. I totally forgot about the card. Then, on Friday, when I was shooting the Taylors was their cars, it made me think about this card. Then I thought "I finally have someone to share that w/". What a great choice. The Taylors have been real good to me and I wanted to show I appreciated their hospitality. I remember telling Betty that I was becoming homesick and she replied "we'll adopt you". I had to give them this card, it's the least I can do for such great quality time I spent w/ them. However, I worked 12.5 hours today and I didn't quite have time to go drop off the card. I wasn't going to put it in the mail. That would have been lame being that they live just 10 minutes away. I will take it tomorrow during free time.
