Day 55 (Mon., August 1)

A few days ago I talked about the sun helping me make a good sunset photo. Well, today the sun helped me w/ a nice sunrise photo. I love you sun.

As you can tell from the first photo, I was able to witness a very nice sunrise. It was beautiful, I had to stop and shoot it. Later, I shot my rosary that hangs on my rearview mirror. I was thinking how fortunate I have been lately. I have been in situations where I could have been seriously hurt, but thank God, I was able to come out OK. I think that God (he or she) is doing a great job taking care of me. It's weird how a lot of stuff has happened to me lately. But, thankfully, I have been able to pull through. I like to believe that it's due to what I do on days like today: light a candle. Today is the first day of the month. I usually light a candle on the first day and let it burn out as tribute to my God. It's the least I can do for him/her. I think that allows for me to get rid of all the negative spirits and bring closer the good ones. Superstitious? Yes! I did grow up playing baseball. So, that explains a lot.

The above photo of the street sign that I saw on Highway 277. "Door Key Road" Ha! That's what friends call me: a "door key" as in "dorky". So, I had to stop and get a photo of the sign.

As I mentioned briefly last week, this week we start our "football tour". We are covering a whole lot of high school football teams this week. We are going to be on the road a lot and we are going to shoot so many high school footballers. I had it easy today. I stayed in town and shot the first day of practice for one of the local high schools. They have a new coach. Man, West Texas football is something else. You can feel the energy in the hot air. I guess that movie Friday Night Lights does West Texas football justice. It's going to be a fun week.
