Day 8 (Sun., June 6)

Caption: Albania forward Tlhomir Pavlonic (center) tries to dribble pass Bolivia goalkeeper (left) and defender Omar Castellon in the first half of a World Masters Cup game Sunday at Jesuit High Stadium. Bolivia won the game 11-2 and finishes the first round in first place of Group C. Bolivia advances to the quarterfinals Thursday at 8:15 p.m.

Today, Sunday, was lazy day. The second of two days off was spent working. Yeah, I like to work, even on my days off. Yesterday's George Lopez concert was fun, so it didn't feel like work. Today didn't feel like work either. How can it feel like work when you are shooting a soccer game, seeing some of the top veteran soccer players in the world, great summer weather (95-degrees, humid) and the staff's awesome 400mm, 2.8 canon lens? Shooting soccer is tough, the ball is always moving and its hard to get a great photo. That's why I love it, because it's a challenge. Covering the soccer game reminded me a lot of the Society of Professional Journalists Convention in San Diego back in March. The reason, is because it reminded me of Alejandra, a really cool Bolivian woman on the Cal State University, Northridge SPJ Chapter. While at the convention, we took a night off the journalism and went to the Latino Film Festival and saw "Dependencia Sexual" a great independent movie, which was Bolivia's first film of the 21st century. I recommend it. Other than the soccer game, I just hung out and watched the Laker game at Sal and Jay Parson's apartment. Time to get ready for a new week. It's been a week away from home, but after conversing with Glady's on the phone on Saturday night, I have quickly adapted to this place and can really call this place my home.
