Day 10 (Tues., June 8)

in downtown Dallas. Most of the day was overcastted and showers
were present since the early morning.
When I left California, most people were warning me of the
hot and humid weather. Man, they forgot to mention the rain!
So far, in the week I have been here, half of the time I have
seen rain. Luckily, I packed an umbrella and a sweater. But
that was all. I didn't bring too much rain gear. I did, however,
bring all the rain gear possible to protect my camera equipment.
So, at least the most important thing was not getting wet. Today,
I had an early assignment. I went up 42 floors on the CityPlace
building (did I mention I was afraid of heights?) to cover the
Principal of the Year Luncheon (bottom). The assignment was
fun and was done by mid-day. After that, I went back to the
office and used my lunch break to walk around downtown and shoot
some rain features (above). When I got back to the office, I
was soaked. But that didn't matter. I got a little exercise,
I got to explore the city on foot, and (most important) my equipment
was kept dry because of the rain gear :). Overall, the day was
wet and quiet. Perfect stay-home and relax weather. I've always
liked the rain, but since we don't much of it back in Los Angeles,
I never get to enjoy it. The week is scheduled to be wet, so
I am in heaven.

Long Middle School as instructor specialists and history teacher,
respectively.
