Day 12 (Thurs., June 10)

Caption: Dallas seems peaceful a day after Sylvan Avenue, a main access road from Oak Cliff to Dallas,
was closed down because high-rising water on the Trinity River. The street remained closed on Thursday.

With lots of sun and heat rising to the 90s, it seems almost unbelievable that yesterday the city was showered with a heavy dose of rain. Today, was very nice. Humid, too. Started the day early by going out to the local library and shooting pre-kinder children at story time. I hung out with the little fellows for a while and saw them work on projects using glue (bottom pic). Man, I remember when I used to do projects with glue. It was always nice sneaking behind the teacher and eating a little bit of it. Yuck, what was I thinking. I also remember running massive coats of glue on my palms, letting it dry and then pealing it off. It was as though I was shedding from my skin the way a snake does. Later in the day, I was able to go back to the site of yesterday's street closure. The water rose pretty high. I wonder how much higher would it get if it rained again. Everything seemed pretty safe and normal, so there was nothing out of the ordinary. Tonight, I hung out with some of the other interns at the Reunion Tower. If you have seen the photos that I shot of the Dallas skyline, its the big tower on the right side that has a huge ball. It was fun just hanging out with them. I met Edmund Fountain, the photo intern for the Dallas Morning News. He seemed cool. Other than that, just went home and saw the end of the Lakers smashing. Don't remember the score, all I know is that they got whooped by over 10 points.
