Day 22 (Sun., June 20)

Caption: Tomas Aquino (left) and wife Emelia Gonzalez look over
statements and pay receipts for their home in Dallas. The family
has been going through a rough time because they are trying
to prove the house they live in is theirs. The family might
be victims of a mortgage scam and will be forced to evict, if
they can't prove they have been making payments for the last
32 months.
Today's assignment was heartbreaking. Here's an immigrant family
that has worked very hard to get to where it is. Sacrifices
and lots of work has gave them a comfortable house to live in
in the outskirts of Dallas. However, they have been hit with
the sad news that they might lose everything they have invested
on the home because they might be victims of a mortgage scam.
Going out to their residence and seeing how united this family
is reminded me of my family. We have worked hard to have the
very little that we consider our own. There are many immigrant
families, like the one I met today, that are encountering this
problem. That was my assignment. After work I tried to forget
about the sad situation and caught up with the rest of the intern
group at the Sixth
Floor Museum in downtown. That's the museum that gives you
all the information on the John F. Kennedy assassination. On
the picture below you can see the window where allegedly Lee
Harvey Oswald shot the president from on Nov. 22, 1963. It was
very eerie going to that museum and being at a place where U.S.
history was made.

Behind these boxes is the alleged window on the sixth floor
of a building in Dealy Plaza in downtown Dallas from where allegedly
Lee Harvey Oswald shot president John F. Kennedy on Nov. 22,
1963.
Today's Father's Day, so before closing out the week and closing
out today's journal. I want to wish my dad (pictured below)
and all the dads in the world a great day. It's one thing to
become a dad, but only those who stick around for their kids
are the ones that should really enjoy the title.

My dad busting a "Chilena" or bicycle kick during
a soccer game. Happy Father's Day dad.
