Internship
Day 26 (Thurs., June 24)

They once told me that a good photographer takes his camera
everywhere, even on dates. Well, I am not that extreme -- ok,
fine... I have taken my camera on dates on a few occasions,
sue me! Haha. Well today I was ready for the news. I went to
work and had a normal day. However, on the drive home I ran
into a very news-worthy scene: a car in flames. So, I pulled
over and took out the camera and started shooting. The incident
happened about 2 blocks away from my apartment, so I was lucky
that it happened when I was driving by there. Not so lucky were
the people who owned the car. After taking the photos I interviewed
the couple. It turns out, the wife was driving in a Saturn behind
her husband, who was driving a truck, when the car started to
get on fire. Promptly, the couple pulled off to the side as
they could not do anything but watch their car burn. The couple
was coming back from the Saturn dealership, where they had dropped
off the car two days earlier to have the air conditioner fixed.
The place where this happened was near the dealership, so there
is a good doubt that the problem was caused because of the air
conditioner not being fixed right. The above picture shows William,
who got a chance to take out a few surviving valuables from
the trunk. Including a bible that he held in his right hand.
The couple were on their way to Best Buy, where they will buy
cds so that they could play it in the Saturn's cd player, which
is seen completely burnt in the picture below. It's hard to
see this type of things happen to people, but as a photojournalist
I have to leave my gut and feelings in the car and run to take
photos of this life experience. I am glad I was ready to shoot.
Otherwise, I'd be mad right now.

The cd player and the rest of the front part inside the Saturn
were completely burnt.
