Day 29 (Sun., June 27)

I have been excited for today for the last two weeks. Today was the first of a three-day-off rest. I had some plans to go out of town and visit some of the other cities and towns around Dallas, but I decided that I should see more of Dallas before exploring outward. Today I got up late and relaxed most of the morning. Cooked up some breakfast and went out. I decided that Friday's visit to the Fort Worth Community Art Center wasn't enough and decided to go see the Salvador Dali exhibit again. This time Sal went with me. Since I didn't have to be rushed today, I was able to see each of the pieces a little more carefully. Later, Sal and I decided to get some lunch. We decided to pick Hooters. Now, I know what you might be thinking: "A day earlier, this guy talks about the young girls being used as objects, and the next day he is at Hooters." Well, to that I say that it's very different. Personally, I think Hooters is overrated and there's a huge misconception about the place. Sure, there's a ton of guys there because of the girls. But, have you seen how many families go in there and have lunch? That's how I justify this place. It's a good place for a family to go have lunch. So, if it's good enough for family, it's good enough for me. I have a friend who works at Hooters, she asked not to be named, and she is proud of working there. She actually took me there for a going-away lunch a few days before I came to Texas. She gets treated really well by the company, good pay and good work environment. So, if she, who is a very respectful person, feels comfortable with the place, then it's good enough for me. Besides, our waitress took the time to take pics with Salvador (below), so the restaurant gets points for that. Ok, moving on... Tonight the intern crowd decided to go check out Fahrenheit 9/11, the new movie by Michael Moore. It was funny and sort of educational, but I still haven't decided on what the message of the movie was. I'll get back to you on that one. Finally, today starts my little countdown to Fourth of July. I am trying to find a patriotic photo a day to highlight this patriotic week. Today's entry (above) is from the 30 Freeway. We were on our way to the Dali exhibit when we drove past this older couple and saw them wearing their matching patriotic hats. More patriotic photos to come.
