Day 38 (Tues., July 6)

Man, I AM HOMESICK!!!! I guess that's how I can put all my feelings into perspective. Maybe I am not homesick, I am just thoughtful. I mean, I don't want to go home. I love Dallas. This place feels good. I would totally stay here and live for a while. I love it. Today, however, I was thoughtful. And I was thinking about my grandfathers. This happened as I drove around Oak Cliff looking for wild art. I bumped into a scene that involved grandfather-grandson quality time. Octavio, 69, and his grandson Taylor, 5, were doing yardwork together. That's when I couldn't stop but think about all the things I ever did with my grandfathers. Raul, my dad's father, taught me about work ethics. All the chores and tasks he had me do when I was little shaped me the way I am now. So, when you call me a work-a-holic, you're actually making my grandpa very happy up in heaven. Also, I remembered the times with my Grandpa Luis, my mom's dad. He is quite the pool-hall junkie. Last year, when I visited my family in Mexico State, Mex., I thought I was a good pool player. However, the first time my grandpa took me to the neighborhood pool hall, he taught me a lesson. Boy, he's good. Those are the type of moments you cannot replace with anything.
