Day 42 (Sat., July 10)

My camer and I, what a perfect date!
I am amazed. Yesterday I talked about how I love the camera
because it makes me forget about uncomfortable situations. Like
the fear of heights deal. Well, I love my cameras. They are,
perhaps, the best dates ever. A year ago today I became single
for the first time in a long time. As you know, I dated Ana
for a long time and our engagement did not work. If you have
been paying attention, you know that I was engaged for a week.
How hard is that on a guy? Man, I think it was one of the toughest
things that I ever had to go through. Luckily, I have a passion
for art and photography and the confusing and awkward year that
just passed was made easier because of my cameras. For the past
year I have been focusing a lot on photography and I have to
say that I have improved a lot because I gave it my attention
every moment in the past 12 months.

Working hard on assignment. Now, that's what I call a romantic
date.
Today was really cool. Photo Editor Bobby Sanchez had a BBQ
in honor of Salvador and I. We drove out to his house, which
by the way is in a great place. Rockwall Lake is near and the
scenery is green and beautiful. I had a great time and I was
glad that I was finally able to enjoy a real Texas BBQ. I definitely
need to get the recipe from Bobby. Hey, I have to learn a lot
of things during my internship. And if Bobby can teach me how
to BBQ a good stake, as well as shoot a better photo, then I
am all game.
I am excited. Tomorrow morning I will embarking on a journey.
I have decided to go camping during my two days off. So, keep
posted to see what Texas camping is all about.

Here I am taking a self portrait at a cabin in the Mojave Desert
in California. Taken 4/11/03. Tomorrow I will taking a similar
trip like this one -- a camping trip by myself. :)
