Day 46 (Weds., July 14)

I am learning a lot here. I am learning that if your a true passionate photojournalist, you never leave home without you camera. That's a hard thing to learn. Today, I learned that the hard way. I went for my morning jog. I was feeling risky, being that I had such good runs the past couple days, so I ran more than six miles in 90-plus degree weather. Man, that was tough, but I can sure see the improvement. My time was very quick. Anyways. During my run, I came across a scene with a lot of emergency workers and police. Actually, a man drowned in the creek that runs along the running trail where I do my morning jogs. When I saw that I just wish I had my camera with me. I kept running home and when I got there, I picked up my gear and went back. Luckily, I showed up two minutes before the body was taken away. So, I was able to get the photo, while still doing my jog.

Later, once at work I was sent on an assignment. I shot Ana Cristina Reymundo. She's the very successful journalist, who wrote Celia Cruz' autobiography. Going to this assignment was very enlightening. I was able to see the type of person I want to be in the future. Successful, proud, funny and most of all, a great person. Listening to Reymundo talk made me look forward to a life of many great things. I learned a lot about Celia Cruz through Reymundo's descriptions today. I only knew a little bit about Celia Cruz, but now I know a little more and I can't wait to go out and buy the book. She was the sweetest person to photograph. Its hard to get creative while doing a portrait because the person gets bored real quick. Luckily, she was very kind and helpful. She sure made my job easier. She even stuck out her tongue. :)
