Day 48 (Fri., July 16)

Elfegio Buendia, lead singer for Mexican Spanish Rock band Cafe
Tacvba, performs a verse off the great "Ingrata" song.
What a great job this is. One day you are shooting something
that makes you puke (like yesterday's boxing matches) and the
next day you are bobbing your head to the cool beats of one
of your favorite bands! I love it! Today's assignment: joining
the mosh pit and make good images.
The first image shows the lead singer for one of my favorite
Mexican Spanish Rock bands, Cafe Tacvba. I couldn't help but
to move my body and bob my head as I heard many of my favorite
songs and still shooting some photography. The concert was off
the hook!!! I had just as much fun shooting it as I would have
had just attending it. Only thing, by being part of the media,
I had access to more places that of the regular "rockero".
So, during the Cafe Tacvba performance, I found myself inside
the mosh pit trying not to get knocked out and still trying
to make a good photo. I survived the slam dancing and the photos
are here to prove it.

Ely Guerra started the night of the good Spanish
Rock concert.
The show started off real cool. Ely Guerra got it started as
she showed up with her crazy afro. It was cool how she made
it a point to remind the "rockeros" to not forget
their Mexican roots and make sure they go vote in their homeland
this year. If these fans are going to listen to anyone, it's
going to be their favorite artists, that's for sure. Next, Control
Machete brought out its hard-hitting hip hop, rap and hard rock
mixes to the stage. I also found myself enjoying the beat as
I shot them. Their show was crazy, but still, it was calm compared
to how crazy the fans got for Cafe Tacvba...

Control Machete makes a performance as fans get
crazy in the pit.
...Yes, fans got a little too excited. A lot of them ended
up on the stage as security personnel could not keep them away.
On the next photo, in fact, you can see a fan being tackled
by both security officers and the lead singer of Cafe Tacvba.
Why was the singer involved? Well, it was because the fan went
up on stage and took away the singer's famed mask he wears on
performances. It was pretty funny because at one point, after
many fans had gone on stage, the lead singer said "Eso
es muchachos, desafien la autoridad" (meaning: "That's
right guys, don't listen to authority").

Buendia (left) tries to get the fan (second from
left), who jumped on stage and took away the singer's mask.

Finally, in between Cafe Tacvba and Control Machete, I saw this
two cups. I thought the contrast of a clear and an opaque cup
being lit definitely were the epitome of the night. People from
all kinds of backgrounds got together to enjoy a night of good
fun. That's what music is all about.
