Day 53 (Weds., July 21)

Today Sal and I got to play cops and robbers. The assignment was to ride along with the Arlington Police Department. So, I got to ride shotgun and Sal played the part of the insane criminal. As you can see from the photo above, he took on the role pretty well. I wonder if being in the back seat of a cop car woke up some memories in Sal's mind. Hmm, good question. The city of Arlington is better known as the place where the Texas Rangers baseball team plays their home games. The field was called The Ballpark in Arlington at some point, but now it's named after some big corporation that took away the cool original name away. Playing cop was great. In one occasion, I let my door open and curled between the open door and the car and shot my 200mm lens. I looked over at Sal and told him I always wanted to hide behind the cruiser's door and shoot at someone. In between all the fun, we were able to get some work done. As you can see from the bottom photo, Sal took on the role of "Investigator" and asked the hard question to the individual in the car. I think one of the questions I heard was "where were you the night of July 12 at 11 p.m.?... Huh? C'mon you scum, tell me the truth."

In all seriousness, though, the day was very productive and thanks to the Arlington PD our story had great insight because they facilitated this for us. In the bottom pic, you can see officer Agustine Barret, who was very helpful and showed us the ropes.

Today was a good day for my photography. One of my photos became an e-card on the Dallas Morning News web site. So, now, every time a web visitor goes to the e-cards section will see my photo and he/she will be able to send it as a greeting card to whomever he/she wishes. I'm so glad I went through all the trouble to shoot that photo.
The hard work and dedication is paying off. Click here to see and send the greeting card.
