Day 67 (Weds., August 4)

The summer's almost over. Well, for interns, that is. This
week, some interns will experience their last week as part of
the Dallas Morning News. Usually, on Wednesdays we have a brown
bag meeting that has been very educational for most of us. Today,
however, we did not have one as everyone is getting ready to
go back home. Some of us decided to stay within the brown bag
spirit and went out to lunch together. Above, you can see Salvador
and Jay helping out Dallas Morning News Metro section intern
Victoria down the stairs. She has an injured leg, so she had
to be on a wheelchair. Below, you can see that the injury has
not stopped her as she raced down "The Underground"
with us to lunch.

Finally, I just have to say that the way people are mixing
Spanish and English together -- Spanglish, if you will -- is
becoming very funny. Today, while driving around looking for
a nice wild art photo, I came across a "Comederia".
I am not too sure why the owner would call it like that and
I am pretty sure it's a Texas thing. Comer in Spanish is to
eat. So, Comederia seems like an attempt at saying "restaurant".

This reminded me of about three weeks ago when Salvador and
I were out hanging out before going to an assignment on a Sunday
afternoon. We bumped into a "Washateria". I guess
its a play on the word "wash" as this place seemed
to be a cleaners or a coin-op laundry place.
