Day 69 (Fri., Aug. 6)

Today's is my cousin Danny's birthdate. That's him above at
his b-day celebration last year when I went to visit for the
summer. That's my boy. I should call him "Blue". This
week I have watched the movie Old School. That is perhaps the
funniest movie I have seen in the last five years. Anyways,
in the movie there's a character named "Blue" and
another character called "Frank the Tank". "Frank"
always screams out "You're My Boy, Blue!". So, Danny's
my boy! and so "You're My Boy, Blue!".
Anyways, Danny and I are eight months apart. I was the first
baby of my generation. When I was born, there were no kids on
my mother or father's family. So, being that him and I were
the babies for a long time, we were spoiled and we did everything
together. I called him up today to wish him a happy b-day. I
miss my boy.
Speaking of missing my boys. Today is also the birthdate of
two other cool guys that I know. The first one is Walter de
Leon. Who knows where homeboy is now. But, in junior high school,
that used to be my boy. Also, it's Nevin Barich's birthdate
today as well. Nevin is one cool cat. I met him while working
with the Los Angeles Daily News. He is pretty good at what he
does, and if you have any questions about boxing, then he's
your boy.
Today's assignment was quite fitting for the type of day that
it was. I was asked to shoot two Mexican League soccer teams
that were practicing for their game tomorrow at the Cotton Bowl.
I say it's quite fitting because Danny loves one of the teams
that I shot today. He loves the dirty little team called Chivas
Rayadas del Guadalajara. Now, don't get me wrong, this is a
top-notch soccer club. I say dirty because they are my favorite
team's rival. I am a pretty smart man, as you can tell from
reading my journal, so it's quite fitting that I'd chose wisely
when choosing the greatest soccer club -- Club America -- as
my favorite team. The hate between both clubs is so great that
it splits families apart. Not ours, but it sure makes for good
debates at the dinner table. Some times it's funny teasing,
and some times it's just down-right hate. In fact, let me show
you a funny moment in the life of Chivas vs. America teasing
at the Cortez household...
Here's Danny playing soccer for his team last year. I did some
photoshop magic and was able to give him the very nice looking
canary yellow jersey that Club America sports. Now, for a loyal
Chivas fan that he is, this was just torture and down-right
crude. But, funny, nonetheless:

Hahahahaha... That's all I can say: Hahahahahaha. Viva el America!
Ok, so I guess this is a good gift I can give my cousin for
his birthdate. Some good photos of his favorite team and his
favorite player. Below are the photos of Oswaldo Sanchez, he
is the goalkeeper for Chivas. On the first photo, he practices
penalty kicks, but since he is a Chiva and he sucks, then someone
scored a goal on him. The second photo shows a bunch of the
Chivas teammembers horsing around with a golf car as Oswaldo
Sanchez just looks on. Well, one thing for sure, these guys
know how to have fun. They almost flipped the little car over,
as you can tell with the car's wheels coming off the ground.
