Day 72 (Mon., Aug. 9)

Liz came back from her trip to Mexico last night. What? Don't act like you don't know who Liz is. Cumon, you remember her. She's the one I kept on writing about for the past two weeks. Anyways, she came back last nite and made a visit so that we can catch up on things. It was great seeing her. I didn't realize how much I missed her -- and I did know I missed her, to some extent -- until I saw her. As always, she looked gorgeous and her contagious smile got me. She brought me a few presents from her trip. The above photo is of a glass hummingbird that now hangs in the living room of my apartment. She also brought me a sand dollar. The sand dollar, seen below, is really interesting. Actually, this was the second sand dollar I have received from Liz. Last Wednesday, I received a letter from Liz. She sent it from somewhere down on her trip. I am not quite sure as she said she was somewhere near Gilligan's Island. She's that funny, I think she was a Padre Island. Anyways, she send the best vacation letter I have ever received. I felt missed. That was really cool.

Among the stuff she brought me was a photography book from a museum she attended in Mexico. I looked at the book and fell in love with it. It has a mixture of great black and white photography from the Caribbean and great quotes from real important people. The quote that struck me the most was that of Earnest Hemmingway (seen below, in Spanish). EH is my favorite writer of all time. I read his "The Sun Also Rises" when I was a journalist wanna-be my junior year in high school. Reading that book made me want to be a journalist more than ever. Anyways, EH's quote really got me. It means: "Knowledge of old people is a huge error. They don't become wiser, they become more prudent". Now, that's what I am talking about!

Having Liz around completed my week. Or, maybe it kicked off my week. I guess it could be both. We caught up, watched some movies, I cooked for her and we relaxed while horsing around my apartment. Man, that girl can play rough, I think my face's still swollen from when she kicked the Al Dia soccer ball into my face. Haha. That's what I call quality time.
