Day 3 (Tuesday, June 13)

I have always said that photography is 25 percent talent, 25
percent equipment and 50 percent luck. Well, today that was
kind of the case. I covered two events today. The first one
involved covering the fan reaction at a Brazilian restaurant
during the live broadcast of the Brazil vs. Croatia World Cup
soccer game.
The reason I mentioned the percentages in shooting is because
today I had a lot of luck in making the photos that you see
on today's journal entry. I am still having trouble with my
camera and it's not working properly. I still have a glitch
and I still haven't had the luxury of sending my camera away
to the repair shop to get it back on top shape. So with that
I am stuck shooting photos with unreliable equipment. That's
only 25 percent of photography, so it's all cool. I worked through
it and got some decent shots.

The fans were really cool and they were celebrating Brazil's
victory so it made for good photos.

In spite of the bad equipment I was able to get some nice angles
on different celebration perspectives.

Including the frustrating moments when fans were hoping for
goal.

Their expressions tell it all. These are die-hard fans.

And of course I got a chance to be a little creative.
The next assignment was a lot easier. That's because I went
to the Town Hall meeting where some big shot political person
from Venezuela was going to be talking about the energy crisis
and the U.S.-Venezuela relationship. However, the speaker never
showed up so there wasn't much to shoot. I did, however, get
a cool shot of the NAHJ members huddling up and going over some
important things as they prepared for the Town Hall meeting.
Our multi-media project from the beach that we worked on yesterday
and most of today is finally ready to go. Please visit the official
NAHJ web site and see the
project. It's good. Well that's what I think. You be the judge.
