Day 6 (Friday, June 16)
The task for the day was: features, features, features.

We wanted to do a slide show showing the different places that
those coming to the convention might have not been able to see
because they were so busy.

First, I went to the Sawgrass Mills, which is a large mall.
It's so big that it's a tourist destination. You can't go to
Florida and not go shopping at Sawgrass Mills.

I was getting ready to leave the mall when I saw the cool shadows
that the palm trees were creating. I thought it was cool and
waited for the perfect moment when someone walked by.

Next, we went to the pyramid that is off the highway in Davie.
Turns out, it's a funeral home. Kinda different, right?

Hollywood Beach is a must see. Especially on great warm days
like today.

In doing some photography at Hollywood Beach, I ran into "Big
Frank". He is a man who walks on the beach every day. He
recently lost 110 pounds and is very happy to walk down the
beach. He said there's stills some work to be done, but at least
he's happy.

I started to talk to more people on the beach and I saw a cool
reflection on the glasses of a woman on the beach. So, I had
to get a shot of that.

Hollywood Beach is a great way to enjoy the beach w/o having
to worry about the touristy part of it all.

It's a good place to ride your bike and do some jogging.
We posted a photo slide show with those photos.

That's about it as far as photography is concerned. Today was
more of a production type of day. Omar (San Francisco State),
Javier (Hunter College) and I worked together on making a multimedia
package on the work by Gadi (New Mexico State). His work revolved
around following a family who was migrating from Mexico to the
United States. It's truly a great story and you
have to see it.
After work we packed our stuff and we all went down to the
beach party. NAHJ threw a great party on the beach. It was so
much fun dancing around with the other students and some of
the professionals. It was a great place to mingle and network.
We are now done for the week and it's time to get back to real
life. Soon we will go home, but it will be an experience we
will never forget.
