What the Camera Saw
(friends sent in their photos, if you have any cool photos,
please sent them in)
PHOTOS BY OMAR VEGA, SAN FRANCISCO STATE UNIV.

The week was packed with a lot of work and a lot of having fun.
By the end of the week my head was spinning. That's a good thing,
though. Someday, I will be shooting the Olympics, war (hopefully
not) and the World Cup, and having long days w/ so much work
will be a thing to be ready for. NAHJ showed me what it will
be like.

(from left) Houston-area journalists Maria, Maribel and Tamara
and myself gather along the computer to see some funny stuff
inside Maribel/Omar's room.

We kept it clean in Maribel/Omar's room. So clean, Maribel had
to make sure she shielded herself from the boy cooties.

Pulitzer Prize winner David Leeson (right) from the Dallas Morning
News talks w/ me and Star-Telegram's Jeff Washington about how
people have been stealing his Pulitzer Prize photos from the
war and using them for their benefit. In March, I caught a soldier
trying to pass Leeson's photos as his. Bastard!

Working hard (or maybe hardly working) after a photo session
w/ war photographers.

It was hard catching some sleep inside Maribel/Omar's room.
Especially w/ Omar blasting away photos.
--Omar: Thanks for the photos dude. You rock. See you in Califas--

Dude! Do I ever get a photo of where I am not making a face?
Geez!

And yet another face. I call that the "thinking face"
as Juliana (left) and Nadia tried to do the same.

Aurora, this is not class, you don't have to raise your hand
to speak. Especially not at the Library.

Aurora again. How many times did her pic come out in the journal?
20,000?

Gibran near some hot stuff from Puerto Rico... No, not Elsy
(center) or Marielis, but Bacardy!

Jeff Washington, the coolest convention internship boss ever.
A great dancer, too... Oh yeah, finally I make a nice face.

But nice faces are a rare when I am around.

Gilda shows some Juarez/El Paso love while I show yet another
face.

Uh, a normal face. But Aurora seems scared. Oh well.
-- Rick, I'll catch you again on assignment in the Metroplex
soon.
keep up the awesome work--
