I Unerstand
Little girl, clean up the house
That's how she was brought up
Deprived just like the past
Act sweet, never tough
Cook up some meals
Make sure it's warm
For her that was the deal
But she broke out!
And no one was warned
Don't be suprised
She's out of her shell
She's being clean and nice
But no more in hell
Clean up the house
Once she was told
But that's how it was
It might be bold
She's something for herself
Strong Xicana just like Adelita
Armed with books, not a gun
She learned it from Abuelita
She learned to clean up the suppressive dirt
She's gonna be educated
Strong and steady like the seaforth
Never behind a man will she be faded
She's cleaning it all up
Spotless from discrimination
Never again will she clean up the house
With a towel is gone the expectation
For her to be a good cook
She's cleaning the house
Becoming her own boss
Strong, wise and reliable
Just like a book
So don't be such at ease
When you ask her to clean
She'll reply "where have u been?"
Demand her to clean
She'll tell you SHE JUST DID!

"Que Viva La Mujer!"
